Jonathan Kerrigan (born 14 October 1972 in Lincolnshire) is an English actor well known for his portrayal of gay nurse Sam Colloby in the BBC medical dramas Casualty and Holby City, and as police officers in the series Merseybeat and Heartbeat.
On 5 September 2004, Kerrigan made his first ever episode as the handsome police constable Rob Walker in the British highly popular and long-running primetime television drama series "Heartbeat", set in the 1960s of Yorkshire. Kerrigan made great impressions on the show and gained popularity for the role.
As well as starring in Merseybeat, Kerrigan also composed the theme tune.[1]
In April 2007, Jonathan announced his decision to quit his role as PC Rob Walker, (whom he had played since 2004) in long-running Yorkshire drama Heartbeat. Scottish actor Joseph McFadden replaced him as village constable Joe Mason in the following series of the show. Kerrigan's departure marked the end of another chapter in the series history, as the viewers of the show saw PC Rob Walker ride off on his motorcycle in the sunset.
He guest appeared in Doctors as Luke on 1 April 2010 Jonathan currently lives in Kentish Town, North London, UK, with his partner Shelley Conn, whom he met on the set of Merseybeat.[2] He previously had a high-profile relationship with his Casualty co-star, Claire Goose.[1]
In May 2010 he appeared in episode 21 of the seventh series of the US crime drama NCIS playing the character Rex Carhartt[3]
